Send Us Your Work

Each month we publish a curated selection of poetry, short fiction, essays, art, and photography. We read submissions on a rolling basis; accepted pieces appear in the next issue we're closing out (typically within four to eight weeks of acceptance).

What to send

• Poetry: up to 5 poems in a single document.
• Fiction: one short story up to 2,500 words, or up to three flash pieces (≤1,000 words each).
• Essays / Non-fiction: one piece up to 2,500 words.
• Art & Photography: 3–10 images at the highest resolution you have. Series are welcome.

Include a title and a bio written exactly as you'd like them to appear in the magazine — we won't rewrite them. Bios are typically ~100 words, written in third person.

How it works

• Simultaneous submissions are fine — let us know if a piece is accepted elsewhere.
• Previously published work is welcome; please credit the original venue in your note.
• Pen names are fine. Contributors under 18 must include a parent or guardian's email for consent.
• Contributors retain copyright; we publish under a non-exclusive, perpetual license. Full terms on the Terms & Privacy page.
• No payment for magazine appearances. Royalties apply only to standalone books — see below.

Beyond the monthly magazine, The Esthetic Apostle publishes individual chapbooks, full-length books of poetry, art books, and photo books under our imprint. Past titles live in the Catalogue.

What we publish

• Chapbooks — typically 16–48 pages of poetry or short prose.
• Full-length poetry collections — usually 60–120 pages.
• Art books & Photo books — image-led editions, often paired with text.
• Hybrid / unclassifiable work, when it fits.

How it works

• Send a query email with a brief description, a short bio, and a sample (10–15 pages of writing or 8–12 representative images). Full manuscripts are welcome if they're ready.
• If we want to read more, we'll request the full manuscript and discuss next steps within a few weeks.
• Royalties are split 60% author / 40% Esthetic Apostle on net receipts, confirmed in writing in the book contract before publication.
• Books are produced via print-on-demand, which means your title stays in print indefinitely with no inventory risk.
